Hold the line.

Menagerie

Hold on girls, there is only maybe a thousand more of these things are coming down the tunnel.

Yeah, they can get by on rocks, but real food is so much better, and there are still a few unbonded unicorns around.

I mentioned it a bit in an earlier post, from way back during the first season, (( https://www.furaffinity.net/view/5330598/ )) That something I love about Equestria is that it turned out to be every bit as varied, and dangerous a place to adventure in as Eternia, Third Earth, Mongo, or Oz ever was. I tuned into the show in the first place just to see how well they were doing the flash animation, and check out some of the character designs. The first ep I see is the six questing to deal with a dragon that is threatening their little town. Honestly that was probably the last thing I expected to see.

The place is filled with civilizations of gryphons, dragons, hippogriffs, and changelings that all, yeah, have some basic trope motivations but a lot that can be built upon. Any of these could be pillaged by sky pirates, menaced by ethereal dark forces, screwed with by chaos gods, manipulated by sorcery of all kinds, or beset by monsters. And there were plenty of monsters. Sea Serpents, manticores, hydras, rocs, sphinx, gigantic bears made from stars, chicken-snakes that can turn you to stone just by looking at you, or even flying tribbles. It even has Greek hell complete with Cerberus. Show runners knew their mythology, there was a whole lot of stuff I had to look up. Certainly, it was geared towards a younger audience, and that was just fine, but there is a lot of really dangerous stuff here if you turn the dial up just a bit.
