Though Ciara was raised to be a soldier rather than the queen she's become, and thus was never briefed on the finer points of royal etiquette, there are a few things she knows. Perhaps the most important is to offer tribute to the rulers of any foreign lands in exchange for safe passage. It prevents misunderstandings and, if you're lucky, sometimes it helps win a friend along the way. So when Ciara wound up in the territory of the Children of Cérès, following a series of improbably adventures, she immediately sought out the leaders of the pack. To her surprise, the alpha female of this wolf pack was a sweet vixen named Spice who readily agreed to let Ciara pass through her territory in exchange for Ciara's cloak to help keep her warm. Naturally, Ciara was only too happy to oblige.
