Maeve the Wanderer by Megan Bryar

Maeve the Wanderer

Megan Bryar

Who am I? You're old enough to know better than to ask such a question, child. All you need to know about me is that, a very long time ago now, there was once a foolish girl who got everything she wanted. Yes, and everything she deserved, too. Magic is a double-edged sword. Even the most benevolent spell comes with unexpected costs and they're never quite what you expect. You should know that if you're going to fool around with it like you think you're some kind of hero.

Just a little something to lay a bit of ground-work for giving my modern-day setting a bit of a polish. I've always had it in mind that the healing magic locked inside Ciara's necklace would gradually manifest itself in more powerful effects, with the ultimate result that it would preserve her life long past her own era. So since the heroine of my modern-day setting is Ciara's descendant, I thought it would be amusing for them to meet. At that time, Ciara, now known only be her middle name Maeve, is virtually unknown in the world except for a handful of scattered stories nobody seriously believes. The whys and wherefores of her meeting with Cassandra are things I'm still working out, as are the precise details of Maeve's life at this point. But, if anyone has even read this far, I'm sure you don't want to hear me ramble on about half-finished ideas.

And if she doesn't look much different than she does at 30, her clothes hide the scars.

I love that speech, we're so going to need to use that when we do Maeve's big reveal.

I was kind of hoping I might be able to sneak it in there somewhere. So yes, I definitely agree and I'm really glad you like it, too!

Oh yeah, we're so putting that in the story. OMG, I'm on fire tonight. So need to get some of this stuff written down and once TFF is done I can get some art for it and we can get the ball rolling. ;)
