Designing a Gelidan snowsuit, all-passive, meant for the neutral pressure deep freeze environment of early Gelidus once terraforming establishes an atmosphere. All fabrics are artificial, outer layers are mostly waterproof hardshell lined with dense polymer fleece or fur. The hat is derived from a ushanka but lacks the front flap and earflap extensions - the rigid hardshell fabric is sufficient to hold the flap in place when turned down. The face mask extends to cover the lower back of the head and part of the neck, and incorporates a semi-sealing breath vent in the front to direct exhaled vapor away from the face, avoiding frost buildup. The coat collar is worn turned up when outside, and contains an integrated hardshell hood to keep out precipitation. Reflective strips are mostly white for general visibility, with some red and green for directional indication. The goggle frames are made with low thermal conductivity materials, and the lens has various coatings, including photochromic and antifog as the innermost.
Eyeblack markings start showing up among Gelidans as this type of suit and its variants enter use - the passive goggles do not control facial glare as effectively as the active visor on the earlier pressure suits.

Initial design of Gelidan pressure suit, meant for the low pressure deep freeze environment of pre-terraforming Gelidus. Essentially a semirigid spacesuit adapted for extended planetside work - long lasting RTG powering environmental control, addon plating and padding to reduce wear from working around machinery, and additional insulation, especially on major contact areas.
Still refining design, considering powered variants, etc.
