Basically Awful

Something I've been working on here and there when I need a break from school thangs.

I'm a hoarder of fictional characters and its pretty terminal at this point. Half of these guys haven't seen the light of day in years, SO I thought it'd be great practice to revamp the oldies and line 'em up with the usual twerps. There's still some dudes left to draw, but I'm pretty excited about this over all!

Waahhdude thanks )8 I was thinking a lot about body language while drawing these dorks.

They are brilliant! :D And I'm the same, I have over 60 characters at this point (some get drawn pretty regularly since I have a webcomic but not all) and it just doesn't stop - people unpack bags in my brain and refuse to leave! Not that I want them to leave... XD

PREACH IT that is such a great way to describe the conception of a character -- and so true too! I know once I draw someone it's all over and they'll be with me forever in some fashion or another. I just wish I had the stamina to draw them more often.

So are all those 60+ characters central to their own stories, or does that include peripheral characters as well? Cause I have no self control and I find myself giving single serving characters their own plot lines all the time.

I used to have this problem all the time - not being able to stick with one comic because in six months I'd want to be able to include another group of characters so in the end I came up with a stupidly big plot that is about whole groups of people interacting in different ways at different points. I guess Chauncey (the chap on my icon right now) can count as the character uniting them all through his misadventures but really the main purpose of my webcomic is to share stories of all those imaginary people in my head so I don't really care if I can't fit the usual protagonist + antagonist + best friend + love interest structure. Life's too short, you know? I don't want to be bored with something I do in my free time.

And because I'm a slow drawer right now I have this arrangement of the main plot plus random shorts involving different characters plus random doodles involving whoever I feel like (I swear this is not shameless self-advertisement but if you look at my gallery it's easy to understand what I'm talking about). I still don't draw my gang enough but at least I never feel bored.

This is the point where your parent walks over and tell you to walk away from that crazy person without making eye contact. %) Oh, and I added you on DA, I'm more active there since this site doesn't get much action, especially for artists who draw mostly humans!
