A Brief Introduction

Standing in front of a large building, you glance down at the business card in your hand, then up at the sign above the door. It reads,

Furry Adoption Center

This is definitely the place, and this is definitely a big step for you. Finally, a pet of your own! You take a deep breath, and walk through the automatic doors.

A receptionist welcomes you and asks, "Are you looking to be a pet or a master?"

The thought of bending to someone's every whim and desire dances in your head for a moment, but you quickly shake the idea. Submission is not for you.

"Master" you proclaim.

"Very well then. This way please!"

The receptionist guides you down a narrow hallway and through a door to the right. You're now in what looks to be a large activity center, with multiple levels to it. There are countless various recreational set-ups within. Video game lounge, library, gymnasium, swimming pool, you name it, and this room's probably got a designated section for it somewhere. You spot a cafeteria in the back left, and on the far right above a door, is a sign that reads "Lavatories, Sleeping Quarters". The place looks to be able to house maybe a hundred or more occupants, but you can only see maybe fifteen various furs scattered about. This must be the pet's living area.

Your eyes wander around the room for a bit until they settle on a rather girlish figured(yet flat chested), dark chocolate-furred feline wearing a large purple collar, who is standing near the back door and appears to be watching a rabbit doing push-ups. The cat feels your stare and turns his gaze to meet yours. You flash him a friendly smile, he responds by turning scarlet in the face and looking away. How cute.

The receptionist clears her throat and instantly every single occupant of the room stops what they are doing and scrambles over to line up in front of you. Amidst the clamoring and brief chaos, you lose sight of the feline you were eyeing. Oh well, you'll meet him soon enough. You walk along the line of potential pets and stand in front of each one, making an effort to equally and fairly assess and consider every individual as the receptionist reads a small biography for that particular pet, yet you can't keep the dark coloured feline out of your head. As you reach the last in line(a black and white speckled rabbit with fluffy blue hair that is giving you his best doe-eyed look), it dawns on you that you haven't been introduced to the feline. Maybe he isn't actually available for adoption? It'd be a shame if not, you were looking forward to getting to know him. You thank each pet for their time and give them each a warm smile, then turn to the receptionist.

"These are all very wonderful candidates, and I'm sure they'd make great pets... I'm just wondering though, there was a cat, at the back of the room earlier. Dark fur, purple collar?"

"Oh shoot, I should have noticed Tom had gone to hiding, are you sure you want to meet him? he can be quite a handful sometimes, and he's not very obedient. I swear, he always does this. Are you absolutely sure? Very well then. Excuse me, please. TOM, COME SHOW YOURSELF, THERE'S A GUEST WHO WOULD LIKE TO MEET YOU!"

You hear a small sigh coming from.. above you? You look up just as the dark furred feline drops from the overhanging library balcony. "How the heck did he even get up there without being seen?" you wonder.

The feline, Tom(as the receptionist introduced him), brushes the dust from his knees and stands up straight to look at you. You realize he isn't an ordinary cat. He has two small, pointed orange horns protruding from his forehead. Tom is part demon.

He stands at about 5'6" and has an attitude about him. He's rather impish, and can get into loads of trouble, rather quickly. He is grumpy and ill mannered, but easily flustered. He actually seems to be fairly aggressive, especially for a pet. He has many qualities you'd usually find in a master. The receptionist mentions that sometimes pets are brought in from previous owners, and that Tom was surrendered to them by his previous owner, who found him to be too much to handle.

"Who are you? What do you want?" His expression is a mix of cocky and aloof, but his averted gaze and flush of pink beneath the short fur of his nose tell you he has some idea what you have in store for him. He tugs at his collar nervously.

A Brief Introduction

Mav

Gosh this is hella embarrassing. I don't write stories, I just don't. I don't know what made me stay up until 7am working on this, But here it is. :I It's written in the second person, and it's open-ended because what happens next is left up to you! Really, seriously lame, I know. :I

The picture as the cover art is pretty much the last line.

Just a small error I noticed.

When the receptionist asked if he was looking for a pet or master, he said "Master." This implies he was looking to BE a pet, not looking to own one.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh shoot, thanks. I had edited that portion a small number of times, and I must have glanced over it. It should be "Are you looking to be a pet or a master?"

I'll fix that now. I really appreciate your taking the time to read this, I hope you enjoyed it.

I did, and the next part sounds like it could be a real treat. :3
