Fear by AliceGrimaude (critique requested)

Looking back to trigger nostalgia
Knowing now that the past won't return
Memories tasting like old sweet ambrosia
And there's nowhere left to turn

Looking forward he wished for amnesia
Leaving his past in a kettle to burn
All these memories driving him into hysteria
And there's nowhere left to turn

Man in the mirror, reflecting on past sins
Man in the mirror, tearing his own skin
Man in the mirror, knowing he can't run from his life and the world beyond

There is nothing left within ivory towers past
Familiar faces turning to you as you pass life by
Humanity will abandon you as your fears turn you aghast
Nothing left to see as you pass life by, so wry...

Looking backward he tried to escape
Leaving his future in a box to avoid
All of reality driving him into hysteria
Stepping each day closer to the void...

Sees the man in the mirror, reflecting on past sins
Man in the mirror, tearing his own skin
Man in the mirror, knowing he can't run...anymore.

The ivory towers crumble as you pass
Familiar faces burning now to ash
Humanity will abandon you as your fears turn you aghast
Nothing left to see as you pass life by, oh why...

Fear is the game, and it drives us all to shame
And when you play the game, it all starts to look the same
Knowing why you're born shouldn't drive you all to scorn
And learning not to play you might face another day.

Since I gotta get back into writing, here's a simple attempt at rhyming.
Been too long...
