Los Angeles Lullaby by Markarian

Los Angeles Lullaby

Markarian

This song is very personal and is about two friends who are very dear to me.

To follow your dream takes a tremendous amount of courage and a special strength of heart--especially when it means being so far away from the one you love. Every victory is touched by that feeling of absence, every accomplishment bittersweet at the wish to share the moment. Amidst the loneliness and frustration a determination, a renewed sense of purpose blooms, which only inspires love to grow stronger.

Also, sorry for the bad Spanish.

Piano recorded live on the Korg SV-1 88. I will soon (hopefully) be getting help with my mixing and composing, so I'm excited! I am using a new Mic, an MXL V67G, which I think is a real improvement.

PLEASE NOTE: I DO NOT READ MUSIC. Please don't ask me for sheet music, I cannot provide it. Sorry :(

Comments and constructive criticism are encouraged, appreciated, and (hopefully more often) responded to!

Lyrics:

Into the city, shining bright

Your shadow drowns inside the amber of the streetlights

And these streets, they seem so wide

Specks of light like distant stars stretch on for miles and miles

With so many eyes upon your mind

If life fit in panels everything would work out fine

In this place, where Spanish names dance in your head,

There's a dream inside you, refusing to stay dead

And strength you didn't know you had,

Flows through that stylus and comes to life upon your pad

'Cause every time that Steven smiles or Rainbow reads a book,

Well the fanboys never knew how long it took

And when you see your world in boiling lines

The present and the past become entwined

It's a long, long way, down the 405

It's so far, far from where you'd walk the Drive

But in these dry, brown hills

You can make your garden thrive

Into the sky, you spread your wings

Your eyes to the South, you ventured forth and packed your things

And with those gemstones on your mind,

You had to wonder if you left your heart behind

But the fire of passion burns across the wires

'Cause, only in the hopeless does the flame of love expire

And in those hours you lie in bed awake,

And wonder how much madness you can take,

Know that you can never be alone

When the one who truly loves you is on the phone

It's a long, long way, down the 405

It's so far, far from where you'd walk the Drive

But in these dry, brown hills

You can make your garden thrive

La cuerva tiene un fuerte corazon,

Here among the palm trees

You can build your home

This one gets to me every time.

I wrote it in an intense moment of empathy that left me almost physically breathless.
