Life with Puwmas Part 5

Mac-Dragon

Waking up in a slight daze, I found my way to the shower to start the day. (And to wash off any remaining sweat and mess.) As I was drying myself off, I noticed some odd looking contraption next to the toilet. It’s cylinder shaping was suspect, as were those hose it was attached to, fading into the floor. The cylindrical part was also quite stretchy, and would snape back like a rubber band. Eh, best not to dwell on it. As I was dressing up, I was startled by a sudden, yet soothing tune from the tv.
“Good morning Mr.Markson. It is now 8:30 am. Do you still wish to visit Blue Java this morning?” I almost forgot about that alarm setting. “Y-yeah. Sure.”

“Very well. If you have any smart device on you, we can give you directions on your navigation app of choice.” Eh, should I really let them access my phone? “No thanks. I think I can find my way.”

It wasn’t too hard to find Blue Java, despite how identical the buildings were in appearance. The large icon signs they had on each building were surprisingly helpful for navigating my way. The inside was pretty much a standard affair for coffee cafes. Almost all of the workers were Puwma, with one outlier working on taking orders. They were canid from what I could tell, though oddly short. Their hair and tail were a dark yet silky blue, and a lightly tan fur covered most over their body

“Hello big boy. What can we get for you?” The silky Coyote said, in a somewhat, sultry tone? Were they hitting me? “Yeah. I’ll have medium coffee, with a vanilla flavoring.”

“Very good sir. Would you like anything else?”

“No thanks. How much?”

“Oh no need to worry hun. Just need to scan your keycard.” Again with the card. I’m starting to question if this is some sort of credit scam. I complied regardless, as it seems they aren’t going to accept anything else.

“Thanks hun. Will have that out for you in a minute.” A wink escaped their face as they said that. So forward, and yet charming. Taking my coffee, I was heading for the door before…
OW, HOT! I spilled some of the hot beverage bumping into someone.

“Oh gosh! I”m s-so sorry sir! I-I wasn’t looking where I was going for a moment, and I, and you, and-” They were stuttering a lot. The burning pain stung a bit, but wasn’t too painful strangely. Once it started to subside, I actually met eyes with the concerned individual. They were a Puwma, which I half expected. But their hair was a bit different from the others, being more of a dark purple, and a cute magenta highlight. Not sure why, but I always found girls with highlights pretty cute. Even looked for that for some of my “internet search history.”

“I-its fine, miss. I’ll just get a nap-’ She suddenly rushed to grab a napkin, and handed it to me. “Here! It’s the less I can do after being so clumsy and stuff. Haha-ha.” Her laughter was filled with nervous jitters. “Thanks Miss?” Why was I inquiring for her name?

“Enis! My name’s Enis. Sorry again about the coffee. I was just thinking a bit too much into personal stuff, and went into a trance, while I was walking, and I, uh, well I.” I tried to interject. “It’s fine really, but thanks. My name is Andrew by the way.” Why did I give her my name? “And I find myself thinking too much into things at times. Need someone to discuss this over with?” What am I, a therapist now?

“Well, my therapist did say I should try to connect socially with others, so thanks sir-er, Andrew! Sorry, my head is all over the place.”

Enis was quite the delight to talk to. It was refreshing to meet a Puwma that wasn’t in perpetual “customer service” mode. We chatted for a good hour or so.

“And that’s how our system of goods and services work.” Enis said with a glow to her smile. “Well, I guess that answers some of my questions. Heh Anyway, it’s been nice talking with you Enis. I’m gonna go around to see the city some more” As I was ready to depart, she stopped me for a moment, looking down a bit nervously. Was she okay?

“Um, I know this is gonna sound a bit sudden and all, but, can I… possibly get your number?”

My number? Does she want to go on a date? With a guy she just met who is only visiting her city? Well, she is cute so.... “Sure.”

Sorry for the delay on this one. Took longer to write that I would have liked.
