Ahna Azurehorn was born in the kingdom of Jade Mountain to Lord Maiqhal and Lady Geishyn. In her youth, she studied the art of pyrotechnics and other forms of alchemy under her mentor, Kanpei. When Ahna turned age twelve, she participated in her first Moon Festival, presenting her own crafted fireworks as an offering to the moon goddess Heng'Ei.

Lady Geislyn fell ill when Ahna was 14, a week before the Moon Festival. The Festival was cancelled when she died days later. Lord Maiqhal became a recluse, sending his daughter in his stead on her lordly affairs.

Recently, as she traveled the continent of Zhonggou to help mend the Rifts to the Elemental Planes, a long dormant kirin ancestry awoke within Ahna, giving form to the first hyouki in hundreds of years.
