Desmond Tiller is a low-born maned wolf who grew up content to work on his family's farm. While he is not very strong (nor bright), his nimbleness came in handy many a time while he and his family tended to their homestead. In his downtime, Desmond would pick up a wooden sword he whittled out of a tree branch and play pretend knights with his friends.

One day, an arrogant, cruel young lord came to the farm, and for reasons unknown to Desmond, put his home to the torch and his father to the sword. With tears in his eyes, Desmond leaped at the lordling with his wooden sword and fought to avenge his pa. Amazingly, Desmond prevailed, and bested the lord, but left him alive, taking his sword and his purse as he rode away.

Now Desmond wanders the lands, far from home, a proper sword at his side, and a vengeful lord hot on his trail...
