More art of forgotten/underutilized characters, this time featuring Captain Nikolai Volkov, a soldier character I haven't drawn since early 2017.

A character I originally designed back the 2000s, Nikolai was originally going to be one of Dominic Wolff's soldiers or bodyguards, but in 2015 I repurposed him to be the commanding officer for my platoon of dog soldiers I was working on--this meant Nikolai was also the hapless Rollo Randolph's CO as well! 
(Don't worry, despite being far larger and more intimidating than the runty Rollo, Nikolai is just as prone to failing inspections and receiving embarrassing punishments as a result!)

I tried something a bit different with his head shape here, not entirely sure I like it, but it does look a bit more square and intimidating while still looking chubby, even if it looks a bit more appropriate for some breeds of dog rather than for a grey wolf.

Checking back to see when I last drew Nikolai, and then tracking down some of the art I put in the links in the description, it's kinda wild to think that I've been at this long enough that I can already do 10 or even 15-year-later redraws of much of my traditional art, soon I'll be able to do 10-year-later redraws of some of my digital art... and in 2024 I could do a 20-year-later redraw of my earliest forays into anthro/furry art!
