Little Sharky by LordDominic

Little Sharky

LordDominic

More critters drawn to alleviate art block, this time a little shark-dog thing based vaguely on my shark folk design from 2020.

Originating from the same as-yet-unnamed world as the sharkfolk (their species is also not yet named or developed much), and perhaps sharing a common evolutionary ancestor as them, these creatures are amphibious, opportunistic carnivores.

I haven't decided much about them, as they just sorta started out as an idea I wanted to doodle, but I did come up with a bit of detail about their hunting and feeding habits at least.

Given their overall structure, they're probably not as effective hunters on land or on sea as predators specifically adapted to either environment, making them better suited to "ambush predator" and "scavenger" roles but granting them the ability to feed on prey both in the water and on land.
While waiting on the bottom of the sea, they often dig into the sand a bit to lie in wait, their long hair helping to disguise them and make it harder for prey (or predators) to notice them. On land, they have a somewhat awkward gait, much like an alligator or crocodile, and their hunting strategy on land is very similar, with them usually lying in wait near the shore or in small pools. They are also opportunistic scavengers, happily eating carrion that has washed ashore or fallen to the bottom of the sea.
