For a while now, I've imagined Tex having a fat uncle who's the sheriff in her little home-town, and I finally got around to designing him.
I can totally see him pulling her and Skunk Boy over as a prank when they come to visit, and him pulling Skunky out of the vehicle and giving him a pat-down and such, just to mess with him while Tex is sitting in the car trying to stifle her laughter as her uncle terrorizes her boyfriend...

It's a mistake he won't make twice! Hopefully...
This does now call into question the legality of skunks spraying in public, and spraying others, that's something I've actually given a bit of thought in the past. What I've come up with is, it would be considered very rude in general, and legally, it's probably considered assault if done to an individual and destruction of property if done to vandalize an object--and it does sort of tie in to my odd fascination with drawing diapers on Skunk Boy at times, as I've mentioned a few times it's to protect the rest of the world from his functional skunk butt.

I was thinking more of accidental discharge under stress, rather than direct assault. Could still be a very unpleasant ride home for Tex and a very embarrassing and uncomfortable one for Skunk Boy, they probably should consider a convertible.

Of course, it's an instinctive thing for skunks most of the time--and it's something that probably does need to be accounted for in world-building depending on how common skunks are.
Actually, Tex probably has the right idea with the pickup, if her skunk boyfriend is stinky, he can just sit in the bed, and it's really only a problem for him and whoever is driving behind them in that case!
