I decided to design a body for that random creature I doodled a portrait of a while back, and this is the result.

He's a combination of bush baby and possum features for the most part, and I took the opportunity to experiment with doing hands, feet and claws a bit differently than I usually draw them--I'm quite pleased with the result.

Of course, I went with that cute "shrug" pose I like so much--it's a favorite pose of mine because it has a sense of cuteness and playful silliness to it, and it's also a good way to show a character's outfit and physique since the limbs are positioned away from the body, giving a clear view of the front of them, and it's a good way to show what their hands/feet look like as well.

I'll probably develop this race more in the future, I'm already contemplating what to call them (mixing up the letters in "galago", the proper name for the bush baby, seems promising... "Golagalo", perhaps?), and what sort of planet they come from, and how their society functions...

I really like the hands, possibly because my oldest son was born without thumbs and had one finger polisized so his hands now look like these. that said the teeth remind me of a ferret I kept as a pet - they have other similarities....

    Why the three toed feet?

Thank you very much! Admittedly, hands are something I have always struggled with--I suppose part of the appeal of drawing anthro art is that I can stylize the hands to be more paw-like, if I'm being honest. "Polisized" is a new word to me, but I'm guessing by the context, that's the procedure for having a finger moved or adjusted to substitute for a thumb?
This guy's a combination of creature features, I guess he does have a bit of ferret to him as well, now that you mention it!

As for the three-toed feet, that's just a carryover from how I draw paws, I suppose. In the past, I experimented with four-toed feet and a few friends told me they looked better with three toes due to my drawing style, so that's just what I've always done. I suppose when it comes to something more primate-like, suddenly only having three toes might look a bit odd... but I can play that off because this guy's not from Earth I guess! Admittedly, much like hands (especially human hands), feet aren't something I'm all that great at--but I probably shouldn't just by shying away from drawing things I struggle with, either, otherwise I'll never get any practice!
