2019 art, featuring Ikaika and his camper van.

This one actually came about as the result of a friend actually being interested in Ikaika as a character. The subject of his work and home life came up, and I actually had to give it a bit of thought...

What I wound up coming up with is, Ikaika runs a little bar on the beach, nothing too spectacular, but a good enough place to grab a drink and a snack, assuming Ikaika is present to serve them, of course! As for his living arrangement, he seems like a total beach bum and chronic slacker, to the point where if he could get away with just living in the back of his little bar he probably would. This led to me considering him just living out of a camper, as it would enable him to have his easygoing, laid-back lifestyle without worrying too much about rent and utility bills, and enable him to be nomadic and just pack up and go somewhere if he so chooses. I initially considered him having a wood-paneled station wagon like the surfers of the mid-20th century used, with a camper trailer in tow... then I decided that even that was probably too much work for him, and he should just have an old camper van instead.

He doesn't need much, just a bed to sleep on, maybe a radio, a place to store the couple of sarongs and couple pairs of swimming trunks he owns, and some cargo space for a cooler or two and maybe his surfboard. The beach offers public showers and restrooms, there's a laundromat in the nearby town, and he's perfectly content being a friendly van-dwelling hobo.
