Geoterran Fox, the other feral race I go to quite a bit when I want to draw feral rather than anthro.

I really like your ferals, especially the last recent two!

You should definitely draw more if you ever feel up for it :3c

Thank you very much! I do have a few "feral" races that are part of the Geoterra stuff, they're adult forms of the little anthro cubs before they metamorphose (thanks, spellcheck, learned a new word!) again into the really badass anthro forms. Kinda like Pokemon or Digimon, that stuff was one of my major inspirations back in the day.

Used to sorta be ashamed to admit that tbh and I think that's why a lot of the Geoterra stuff is sort of lost to time...

That's really neat!! Also kinda similar to how tadpoles turn from little sperm-creatures into froggos. The only downside is they loose their cool tail :^(

        Awe, how come?

Oh, yeah, like that but magical.
Maybe their little baby forms should be tadpoles... little heads with tails... that would be creepy, and probably non-canon but it might be fun to experiment with sometime. "Fox tadpole" might just be strange enough to work!
That would probably be straight-up Pokemon/Digimon territory though, their babies are mostly just heads with tiny limbs it seems...

To be honest, I don't really know why I abandoned some of the quirkier aspects, which in hindsight probably would have made my art more interesting... I was probably a bit embarrassed to be "ripping off" other things, and potentially worried that would hurt my artistic integrity somehow. That, and probably trying to make my art a bit more "normie" to fit in was probably a big part of it. The "backend" of it, so to speak, was already a mess so by the time I started posting art online in late 2011 I was already in a state of "well this is a mess and I need to sort it" but said sorting never came.

Now, the only thing that really sets those old designs apart from the more "normie" anthros I draw is the big teeth, the unusual yet somewhat "natural" fur patterns some have, and sometimes I draw them using their magical abilities (like when I draw Vicky breathing fire), which are way more "normal" and "mundane" in their own world. Chance Whitefang's spear, for example, is something most members of his race can conjure, and it's a sort of "mana-to-matter" or "transmutation" sort of thing that's found in some of my other races as well (the archer jackals can conjure up arrows for their bows, for example).

Please do fox tadpoles lmao that is something I need to see with my own two eyes.
I know that the Zora, a fictional fish-people race in the Legend of Zelda series, is shown that their babies hatch from eggs and start off as little tadpole-like creatures called Tadtones in the Majora's Mask game. I think that was a pun, since they looked like musical notes when posed correctly and were used as a plot device to teach you a song to play on your ocarina, but I digress. They look a lot like those Otamatones meme instruments, if you've seen those lmao

It's a shame that people get so scared of "ripping off" other shows/artists/etc that they never express themselves or do certain things with their stories :^( Originality is nice of course, but toxic originality is really straining on an artist. I used to heavily police my art and would legit harass people who I deemed having a "similar style" to mine, and honestly? Worst years of my fucking life. I was anxious and stressed out all the time, a lot of people didn't like me and probably even hated me, and I hurt other artists in my absolute conquest to be "original." I've completely given up on it now, and would actively encourage people to draw inspiration from my art and artistic style and characters. As long as they aren't tracing or stealing my art, or copying a character's design to a T, I could care less what they do. Now I find it flattering, if it ever happens!

Oooo, mana-to-matter is cool af!! And so is big teeth. Your species peaks my interests lmao

Can you imagine Vicky as a tadpole tho?

I get the feeling if I did something like a "fox tadpole" it would probably wind up either non-canon artistic fun (which is something I need more of tbh) or get repurposed as part of something else (which is what often happens to said "I drew this for the lulz" things). I might just be better off having it that they're born as anthropomorphic babies, and when they hit a certain point, they go through their metamorphosis into the "adult" form, and then they can go through a couple more into more powerful and more badass forms if the conditions are right. That's sorta what I was going for anyways. I think at one point, all Geoterrans came from eggs, too. So there would be a fox egg, then potentially a fox tadpole, or just a fox puppy emerging from an egg.

100% real talk, you are the first person I have encountered in over 15 years that has actually given this much of a shit about the backend stuff that went into this.

"Toxic originality" holy shit that's a great way to word it! I know exactly what you mean and the strain you're talking about! I've talked to numerous people who, for whatever reason, feel this obligation to completely invent everything from scratch in their worlds. Gets really weird when it's reduced to such simple concepts as wheeled vehicles or clothing...

Not sure I can really describe Geoterra as a "species" tho since it's a world, with numerous distinct and semi-distinct species doing "magic fighting animal" shit but also having shitty day jobs and boring home lives. Anyone that thinks Chance Whitefang has an unfair advantage over the deer because he can breathe fire and conjure the Gehenna Spear are just unaware that the deer can channel energy beams with their antlers just as easily.

I think now, if I ever DID decide to learn to pixel, maybe I should try to make some nostalgia-fueled Pokemon-type sprites of generic Geoterra Project creatures and set up an evolution flowchart. Really drive home the fact that Chance Whitefang (and, by extension, all the other characters of that same model, like Henry Redmane) is on par with an Ultimate-level Digimon or a third-stage Pokemon like Charizard... but with an office job and bills to pay.

I could if you draw it

Ngl, kinda wanna draw Sav like some sort of lil' dumpling creature or something lmao It'd be pretty easy to do since it's, y'know, a lump with a tail and maybe some hair. Even my lazy ass could probably get it done
I'm imagining a horrific monster-morphing experience and I gotta say, good shit! I love transformation/fusion, it's one of my favorite things in fiction! If I had a super power, I'd pick shape shifting, no fucking questions asked that's the only superpower I want.

I agree, I see a LOT of people like this and can only hope that someday they grow out of it. It's such a bad way to live your life and spend your artistic years being so obsessed with being "original" despite almost everything having already been done at least once before you, that you also tear down other artists. It's stressful, it fills you with so much unnecessary anger, and you target people who probably weren't even trying to ""copy"" you to begin with. The only word I could describe it as is "toxic" because it genuinely hurts everyone involved, especially the artist who's doing the policing. If I could take it all back, I would. I want to encourage others, not ruin them.

That's really funny lmao you have these cool beings with superpowers and shit but then they're just. At a cubicle. Almost like Mr. Incredible having his super strength and shit, but working a really lame ass day job at an insurance company. This also leads to some funny scenarios of getting pissed at some dumb bitch on the phone and just fucking destroying your whole station

Oooo, that'd be really cool!! :o I'd be down to see that for sure
