2015 art. Mavuto again.

Meet private Mavuto Van Aarden. 23, brown hyena, quiet outcast that never quite fit in growing up, proficient marksman who doesn't mind the solitude of sniping. He wound up being assigned to a platoon of dogs because there were no other hyenas to put him with and the higher-ups thought "close enough". As a result, he still feels out of place, even among such a close-knit group.

He's a bit chunkier here than the last time I drew him, maybe being a hyena with low standards in the food department means he can eat even the most disgusting rations and mess hall slop the others won't touch.

He's always wearing a serious expression, it seems. Reviewing my older art of him, there's not one picture where he's happy, he always looks like he's either on edge or just weary or sad. He's a quiet and brooding type. The name "Mavuto" is of African origin and means "troubles" or "worries", and it seems to fit him.
