Look images of him over a while before inspecting these below. They talk about a couple simple design points that are hard to unsee, so better to aesthetically notice them before hand. but kinda relevant to the conversation:

I can look at Starscream and see places there are armor, places there is nothing, places that seem to me muscle patterns or sinewy areas, bones (collar bones look for them) and subtle rib/chest pattern that blends into being armor. The different things-this-part-could-be can oscillate depending how I am thinking at the moment. Also those high heels, an the legs and his sometimes effeminate mannerisms -- his form and movement suggests male or female gender traits or none, or beyond that, to me. This journal contains a bit about transformers and gender and how arbitrary it is. (Also worth just making a note that, that aspect seems to greatly affect the tf porn community.) There is a Tumblr post somewhere that I can't find though about men wearing high heels for which a google search brings this familiar image: http://www.todayifoundout.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Louis_XIV_of_France.jpg There were more things of that nature in the post, so then that gets mixed in with ideas of royalty or status. Starscream's form is basically conceptual porn to me. Oh yeah an he is a plane, and the way his mouth is animated suggests a beak. And so he' like a human, alien, plane, and bird all at the same time. My mind just bounces around like mad thinking about him. This is just ONE character fuck I am not obsessed with the others to have noticed yet but I expect the other characters are complex like this. And that is just the body shape, not the personality or character interactions or other things, though some of the shapes do relate like the snake shape on his chest. Transformers has come so far from cheesy G1 in the 80's it is fucking amazing.

To see what I mean by the hips thing you got to look at animations of him at different angles. one of the wonderful things about his form is that, appropriate to the form of beings that transform dramatically into other shapes, even their regular walking and mannerism movements do all these aesthetically pleasing things. They are really complex and I have been drawing organics all my life and this is a steep learning curve.

Powersync has a somewhat similar build being that 1. I like Starscream's build 2. Powersync is a similar vehicle form. Another fighter jet. in Transformers these sort are called Seekers and in G1 they were structurally identical to each other with different colors. There was a "cone head" variation, which had a different body plan. Powersync is kinda one of those in aesthetic, as my old roomie Faust pointed out in hindsight, and I've kept that in mind, since. 3. I still haven't drawn them next to each other to show this and Powersync might need tweaked, but since I designed it as a companion for Starscream I'd like it to visually complement him. Powersync's wings generally hang downward, while its head points up and shoulders up. It's crotch plate thing is a v and it has all these otehr shapes going on. It feels like it it pointing outward and Starscream is pointing inward, in general.

As for more complementary things: Powersync is at least a head shorter than Starscream but has that tall headpiece which I realize probably balances things out a bit though Its' eye level is lower. I want it to be shorter because I have a fetish for that :D. It is, or likely will be if I keep that design, stockier or has weight distributed differently so that it /can/ be shorter as it masses about the same as Starscream as dictated by it's vehicle mode. It's got wide hips. I want it to have gender ambiguity -- It didn't pick pronouns just never applied the human concept of gender to Itself. I want people to look at it and be able to see it as male or female or can't tell or both or unknown.
