Catbot by Lone Companion

Catbot

Lone Companion

Name: Catbot. Or maybe Slynx (Original Character not Pre-Existing)
Faction: Autobot
Gender: Genderless
Occupation: Ship's Cat (Lost Light)

This is an original character that /forced/ its way into my mind the other day; it was like my mind insisted I just be this character in the thought story I was writing. It's a transformer and is set in the IDW universe (current comics). My mind's automatic demands want this character to be buddies with Rung (ship's psychologist). Naturally, my favorite character (besides Starscream) from these comics so far, is the psychologist.

I used this drawing as a color experiment. I haven't seriously colored anything for a long time. This has graphite, pen ink, Prismacolor marker, white oil based paint pen, and black and yellow bottled ink applied with brush and fingers. On cheap paper.

The character in my mind was vague and I remember it being darker in color, and I had to change/create some details to make a drawing of it. I couldn't get its body dark enough with the markers/knowledge of using them that I have. This thing was almost black, but blue or purple, maybe a bit iridescent or glassy. The black lines could have possibly been drawn using white, instead. Its joints and things (secondary color?) were an unknown color, and here I made them white.

I have not read enough MTMTE (a current line of Transformers comics) to have absorbed that particular drawing style yet, so this is pretty much generic-robot-in-my-style/probably also influenced by Prime which is the TF universe I pay the most attention to.
It developed in a mind-story with Rung (psychologist, no not Powersync) when I was having some awful hypersensitivity/OCD that I was trying to distract myself from. And I'm like, alright, yeah, sure, I'll go talk to the psychologist. Then, I was a cat. Brain...how do you work?

So I figure this critter was neutral alliance and signed onto the ship when Rodimus was like, hey everyone, we are going to go chase this myth and find these people that are really wise and ask them to help us rebuild our broken ass society. Who wants to come? And the cat was like, fuck yeah sounds a lot better than getting beat up in the streets here. Shit ranges from mediocre to scary in town, and this place is a real let down. Went to the wild and the planet tried to eat me. If I die in space well, better than here. People will get lonely and bored in deep space on the ship and will pet me and I'll be loved and needed. Yus.

Alt mode is just an anthro cat. I actually drew that first as a really simple drawing. Character spends most of its time in its feral cat mode. I think it lives in a broom closet or in the ventilation ducts.

I can see Catbot and Ravage (also feral feline, Decepticon) fighting at some point, if Ravage's story ever crosses the Lost Light's path.

I remembered there is a page in one of the first MTMTE comics where it shows the characters and their occupations in a sort of brutally honest/sarcastic way. And I was like, out loud: "Catbot: Ship's Cat." That's it. And got out of bed and sat down to draw it.

I think its name might actually be Slynx but people usually just call it The Catbot or just Catbot

Very appealing bot design! That illumination effect is pretty rad.
