I'm archiving this costume here as it is still my "first". It debuted at FWA 2012 and went on the dance floor in 2013. Someday I want to rebuild this costume as a full set, though still stage-inspired. The current head is cardboard, celluclay, apoxie sculpt, and rope fibers. VERY heavy. I'd like to resculpt it and cast it in plastic or resin, then install either proper kanekalon dreadlocks or wefts of fuzzy fibers. The wings are ripstop nylon that I'd like to recut and finish all the edges of completely, as well as come up with a more refined enclosure of the wing support. It's still pretty awesome though and the whole thing was made with materials I had lying around, there MIGHT be $75 in this whole thing if you total up the fabric, LEDs, rope, and head materials. I'm still proud of it as a first project although I acknowledge now it's hideousness.
Original description: [The piece could be described as a 'partial', the wings fit on like a jacket while the wearer holds up the reinforced leading edge of the wing. The mask sits atop the wearer's head like a hat, with vision through the chiffon veil under the mask's chin. The only feature not shown are the light up eyes, which feature battery operated, color changing LEDs.
For reference, Karnak himself was envisioned as a male Egyptian Vulture, possibly as a lesser god or spirit. ]
After many years I still adore this. I hope your health improves. My best wishes go out to you!
(I do hope the tablet did come in handy )
