There are no such species/living beings in Chronorahn setting as caerran (loupdrakes), sualocin, etc - all of those are types animas (picture examples: one , two , three ('dragon' creature)).
Animas may attach themselves to representatives of intelligent races of high level (humans & etc.) SO HUMAN FORM FOR ANIMITES IS THEIR PRIMARY FORM
And when you see a caerran - it is not a beast or creature that may take human form: it is human, that swapped forms with his/her anima.
and because of this exchange, his/her personality/mind/soul stays just the same in any of his/her forms as it is only material shell that gets swapped.
