Larua looks a bit dark but is rather sweet and gentile. She has serious feelings of unworthiness, especially once she was no longer useful for her tasks. That could be in part to her being born with markings of St. Peter, a rare trait in these creatures to have such meaningful markings.

At one point, angels were caretakers and healers of new souls that passed into the land of the dead. They needed to be cleansed and healed of their pain and wounds from life before they could be reborn or move on. Sometimes they came in so damaged or corrupted, they became lost or dark souls. The little Shadows could safely move into darkness the angels could not and would find and return those souls. However, humanity became corrupt and the upset of balance happening in the land of the dead drove out the angels and the Shadows no longer had a purpose, so became feral and nervous.
