Mario and Peach approached the grave where his brother, Luigi was buried. Having been taken by a demon, and it had been months before Mario was able to visit his grave. A princess' words echoed through his mind; "Do not visit his grave on the night of the Blood Moon, evil is awake." But this was the first time he had gotten the strength to, and he wanted to pay respects. "If I get in and out before the Blood Moon, we'll be fine." He reassured Peach as the tracked through the path of the dark Graveyard to the site. He knelt down by the tombstone and bowed his head in respect as a tear gently glided down his cheek. Peach placed the flowers down on the grave and placed a loving hand on her husbands shoulder in comfort. He looked up at the name in stone and lightly rubbed over it with his hand, his glove glowing an eerie tinge of red. Peach gasped, and in-sync, they turned to see a very big, very red moon hovering menacingly over them. The froze, holding their breath and listening for a moment, then Mario grabbed Peach's hand. "Let's go." They darted towards the gate, but too late. Their path was blocked by the walking dead. "Mario!" Peach cried out, allowing him to dodge an incoming attack. A devious laughter rolled through the grounds as they ran, desperately searching for a way out. "I'm so sorry, Peach." Mario trembled. "If I had just listened-" "Look out!" They turned to dodge an attack again, but the next thing they saw, they were not prepared for. Mario's pupils shrunk as his heart almost stopped beating. "L-Luigi..." His voice caught in his throat as his brother stammered towards him, unable to talk, only groan, like all the other zombies. His clothing torn and dirty, his eyes sunken, his flesh rotting away and the stench of decay. "M-Mario..." Peach whispered, knowing he was going through too much for one man to take in. /he couldn't take his eyes off his brother, he'd never seen him in such a state, "I'm.... I-I..... I'm so sorry.... Brother...." Mario barely choked out, falling to his knees and retching on the ground, tears flooding down his cheeks like waterfalls now. "Luigi...." Was all he could muster. "Mario..." Peach spoke, "I'm so sorry Luigi, it's all my fault." "Mario" "If I had just listened to you, you would still be here." Mario!" Mario snapped his head up to see a zombie grab Peach and open its jaws wide as she screamed. His heart sank. He found himself between his wife and the zombie, everything had blurred as his number one priority became to save her. "Were you bit?" He asked as he grabbed her hand and ran as fast as they could, dodging zombie. "No, You saved my, once again." She huffed from running. As they burst out through the gate, they turned in time to see Luigi lift his hand, stammering closer still. Mario froze again and stepped back as his undead brother approached the gate. "Luigi..." He wanted his brother to somehow respond, to tell him he was still there, and that there was still a way to save him... Somehow. They jumped as a force field stopped Luigi in his tracks, hesitating for a moment, he turned and wandered away, Mario again, falling to his knees as he watched his brother disappear into the darkness.
