THE STORY

It was a weird day for Aura’s mother with her being on a “brat-streak” and all. First, it started with her trying to flush her blanket down the toilet. This was before they found out she already clogged it with the full roll. A couple hours later, she got a hold of a pair of scissors – she snuck into her mom’s bedroom while the mother went to go use the bathroom – and decided to be a barber and cut her hair. This made it hard for the mother to get the baby kitten ready for later that day.

It was a special day in which they were going to go over to celebrate their family’s friends’ daughter’s birthday. How can you do that when your own daughter cuts her hair off just before you clean her up and get her ready? Well, the mother found a way as she cut of parts of the hair to make it short yet cute on top of her daughter’s head.

And then, there was the part where Aura needed to be dressed for the party. Thankfully, one of her oldest sons was there to help keep the little cat still, which was a big job in itself. She thanked Cody for helping get the party dress on Aura, even though it wasn’t much of a fancy dress since the mother figured that the girl would somehow get dirty by the end of the day, whether it be mud or dust that’ll get on her.

The mother thanked the young fox as she sat down for a bit and let Aura run around. She sighed as she watched the young cat go and nom on her siblings’ toys near the toy box. As soon as the father came in from work, it was time to go.

They grabbed the small cake they bought, and the small presents each of the kids were giving, as they headed out to the van. After packing everyone in, and buckling the little ones into their seats, the mother laid the cake on the floor in front of her before her husband drove off. It was an hour of “B’oon!” from Aura and “He/she did it” from the scrabbles in the back until they made it to the Polsons’ house.

The older kids, along with the presents they took from the back of the car, jolted out of the car and over to the front door to wait as the father grabbed the toddlers, leaving the mother to juggle both the cake, which was at least in a bag, and a fidgety little cat.

By the time she made her way over to the front door, it was already open with Mrs. Polson already inviting them in. Out of tiredness, and the need to get her children into one spot, she sat the cake and Aura down near the table. She wandered off to get who she can to hand little Gemma the small cake as part of the gifts they brought in. Seeing as most of the other kids were playing party games, she asked for Cody to help her with the cake.

It was when they got back to the cake that they saw aura with pink streaked across her muzzle and crumbs on her shirt.

“AH! Bad Aura!” Cody scolded just as his mother covered his mouth.

“It’s… okay Cody…” she said with a sigh, picking the cake up out of the box to put it on the plate in the bag. It was a small and light enough cake, easy enough for Aura to hold. As she told her daughter to hold onto the cake and give it to Gem, she asked for the fox to help keep it steady as they made their way over to the birthday girl.

Cody barely watched the cake much since he stared at Aura with worry, wondering how Gemma would react to part of her cake missing. His youngest sister didn’t care, she was still trying to lick all the frosting off her muzzle as she wobbly walked over to where they were setting Gem down. They made sure that she was on top of an old blanket before Aura’s mother instructed her to hand the cake to Gem.

“Hap’ birfday!” Aura yelled in happiness, as the others listening – including those playing the birthday games – chuckled.

“Fank yoo!” replied Gemma with the same amount of enthusiasm, ignoring the piece of cake already missing.
