Maht-Rat Footman by LieutenantHawk

Maht-Rat Footman

LieutenantHawk

The Maht-Rat are the oldest known inhabitants of the eastern coast. They are ingenious but passive creatures, and when the reptilians soon to be known as the Sarvolk migrated east, they willingly submitted to their rule. Though looked down upon by the Sarvolk throughout history, the Maht-Rat have made great contributions to their society, in the fields of medicine, philosophy and science, and they have always been willing to serve in the Iddek army and navy. They tend to shy away from the wolven farther north, whom they consider to be less fair rulers than the lizard-men.

This particular rat is a footman in one of the Iddek army's auxiliary units. They wear red surcoats but carry the same blue and white shields as their Sarvolk comrades. Their pan helmets are a modification of the traditional kettle helm design, meant to accommodate for the rats' head shape. The Maht-Rat can be seen quite often alongside Sarvolk soldiers and sailors, as well as in the ranks of Byrandian legions.
