Fiona's ears twitched slightly as she passed the alleyway.

It was a cool morning and most people were still indoors, but Fiona love the early morning sun.

She took a soft breath and started into the darkness of the alleyway, trash and foul water ran by her feet as her ears twitched again.
"Hello?" She asked quietly blinking and trying to adjust to the dark around her.
She looked to her right as there was a quiet rustle nearby.
"It's okay..." Fiona said quietly, she raised a hand focusing as warm glowing light formed, lighting up the area around her, "I won't hurt you." She spoke quietly, her voice honey soft.
"H..h..how ya doing that?" A curious voice asked back as a small boy with raccoon ears shuffled quietly in his hiding place.
"Keep back Lem! She's a witch!!" A little cricket chirrped.
Fiona giggled a little squatting down to be level peering carefully at Lem as she closed her hand, the light focusing into a torch beam before vanishing.
"Y..y.you are a witch!" Lem stammered, "Please don't make me a frog or anything unnatural, I weren't doing anything wrong!"
Fiona looking around, "These are your bins then?"
Lem felt a wide blush cross his face as he shook his head, "This is all trash, nobody wants it..."
Fiona smirked softly, "Then why are you looking around in it?"
Lem wrinkled his nose and huffed, "Gotta eat."
Fiona sighed slightly, nodding thoughtfully; "You two alone?"
Lem nodded, "Yeah, We like it that way."
Fiona looked Lem over again more intently as she lazily pointed a hand towards one of the trash cans, "Try there."
Lem gulped and edged towards the trash can still facing Fiona as he blindly pushed the lid to the ground, a strong smell of almost fresh bread filling the air.
Lem clumsily grasped around in the bin, still facing Fiona as he pulled the bread out shuffling back and holding it front of him to see.
"I don't know..." Davey chirped, "Get her to try some first?"
"Yeah! Y..you try some first!" Lem pushed the bread towards Fiona.

Fiona took the bread and ripped a large chunk off, pressing the warm soft brown crust into her muzzle chewing slowly before swallowing.
"Mmmm, is very good." She smiled handing the loaf back as Lem bit directly into it his eye lighting up happily, he broke off a large chunk for Davey.
"I'm Fiona." Fiona smiled sitting down across from Lem.
"Ammmhhhmmm Lem anth ffith iff Daffeey." Lem spat bread at Fiona as he hungrily devoured the loaf.
"You don't like to stay any place for a while huh?" Fiona noted.
"Nuh uh." Lem replied, "Me and Davey, we like to wander."
"I know how that goes." Fiona grinned, "I didn't have anyone looking after me growing up either."
Lem snorted, "I got Davey, he looks after me plenty fine."
Fiona giggled a little, "And I guess you look after Davey huh?"
Lem wrinkled his nose and nodded, "Yeah."
Fiona however smiled softly, "I've been there... Only I was alone."
Lem looked across to the dog girl, she had fur and a muzzle, not a kemonomimi like him at all.
"That's pretty rough going, how did you make it?" Lem asked curiously.
Fiona smirked closing her hand as the light vanished totally, "I know some tricks.
Lem nodded looking to the bread and back to her, taking the longest time to finally ask, "Can you teach me some, that would be really handy."
Fiona stood up smiling widely, "It will take a while, no more travelling, no more roaming, for a bit."
Lem gulped scuttling back against the bins, "I..."
"You don't want to be trapped." Fiona mumbled, "I haven't had to face the same challenges you did sweetie, I don't know what in the past keeps you out roaming, but I can promise if you come with me you will never have to face it again."
Lem sighed a little, "I know you want to help, you aren't the first. But I like things they way they are."
Fiona smiled offering Lem her hand as she said, "Then come with me, don't be scared sweetie. I don't know if I will make things better, but I can promise they will be less worse."

Fiona turned towards the wall as the surface of it shimmered and vanished suddenly, another world visible on the other side where there was light snow on the ground and it was early evening.
"I travel a lot as well, but between worlds; not cities." Fiona smiled looking to where the wall was.
Lem blinked in shock and disbelief as he looked to Davey, "I...I..."
Fiona stepped towards Lem taking his hand, "Come on... let's go together."
Lem nodded quietly squeezing Fiona's hand as they walked past the wall and into another place.
