The dragon was magenta and it just screamed old school lurid comic art to me, thus the title.

Raven here has not been drawn anthro... nor has his dragon been drawn... at all... except to say that the dragon was known to be the same color as his magenta scale. That's a lot of faith to put in a person drawing your fursona on an artist's choice with no sketches! BUT I DID THE THING.
