Photo taken at 11,720 feet. At this altitude, you are above the tree line where only certain types of plants are capable of surviving. This is a very delicate ecosystem and stepping off the paths in the same area will kill the grasses and can take hundreds of years to redevelop.

These pictures really don't do the view justice. This is actually a really big open space, you just don't have something to scale it to.
