Rat Chimeras were created by Bio Dynamics to compete with the Bat Chimeras made by the New African Gene Corp. Bio Dynamics was an obscure company to begin with, and most of their records were lost during an arson attack that took place prior to the trials of the companies board of directors for patent infringements. What is known has been constructed largely from public documents.

Bio Dynamics created the first Rat Chimeras 17 years after the first generation of Bats were created. The company had limited capital and expertise, and it can be summarized that they chose to use technology patented by Gene Corp to make their Rats. It is believed that some 1700 odd Rats were made over a five year period. The rush to make the Rats was so great, that the official flyer advertising the Rat Chimeras had numerous spelling and grammatical errors in it!

It has been speculated that the Rats were deliberately sabotaged by an unknown third party, as a audit of the Rat genome showed that Hyena DNA had been spliced into the Rats sometime after their creation.

Bio Dynamics went into voluntary receivership soon after this. The company was found to be trading while insolvent, and infringing on several dozen Gene Corp patents. The Rats were sold to a Hamua university for group psychology experiments in a remote facility in the Ashfell Mountain Range. The facility where they were eventually housed had been in ruins for many years and was not ready for the Rats when they arrived. It proved to be less than secure, and the Rats escaped after five days and formed their own societies along the Hamuan/New African border and in the Ashfell Mountain Range. It is not known where their societies are located, but it has been speculated that they are living in underground cities and bunkers from the planets terraforming days.
