"Mmm, some time to myself," Topaz said, walking away from Chris and Lauren. The pair looked like they were having more than enough fun on their own. Topaz cast one last glance as they touched in the waist deep water. Chris looked like he was going to lean in for a kiss.

Topaz frowned and wished she had some pockets to stick her paws in. She'd had a first kiss, but that was pretty much it. "When am I going to get a boyfriend? I want to have someone to hold and to kiss, and it seems so nice when anyone else does it. I don't even know what you're supposed to do when you get one." She walked along the beach, leaving her pawprints in the sand.

For a long while it felt as if she were alone. As she passed a pair of trees she felt eyes on her from somewhere. They ran over her body as if they were analyzing her. It didn't feel dangerous, but it was unusual. She slowed, her ears perked to register any sound. She was unarmed and hardly dressed. If it were an attacker, she would have to rely on her own combat skills.

Wind blew past her ear, alerting her to the presence of someone behind her. She spun in place to see a tall feline with gray-purple fur standing two feet away. "GAH!"

"Forgive me for startling you, but I called out and you didn't seem to notice. I... I suppose it's impertinent of me, but would you be with anyone?" Xaviera inquired.

"I came with friends, but..," she thought about Lauren and Chris, and then shook her head. "I'm free, I guess."

Xaviera put an arm around her back, and guided her towards a green rectangle on the sand. His beach towel, she realized. "Join me?"

"I... I suppose, if you don't mind. My name is Topaz."

"Xaviera."
