The vast majority of Alurians believe that the sun, Ryndu, is a powerful living being, commonly depicted in art as a golden two-headed lizard, serpent, or dragon. He is the most beloved of Alurian infinites, and cultures in both hemispheres celebrate him in the days surrounding their summer solstices. He is a provider of warmth, stability, and life, with a temperament that is thought to be protective and fierce, but noble. Ryndu places a high value on honor and selfless leadership.

Year 0, also known as the Year of Light, marks Ryndu's most striking visit to Aluria. For four days his presence was upon the planet, focused somewhere in the middle of the Krynapsys Wastes of Daldra. As his energy washed over the whole world, living things found no need for food or sleep, and even death itself was delayed for the duration of his stay. A few days after the event, a man named Noth was found on the eastern shore of the Sea of Hope, having just emerged from the Wasteland. The people he encountered claimed he had been blessed by Ryndu, and encouraged him further westward, to the shores of the Sunlight Sea.

Though Ryndu's influence on Aluria has not been felt as strongly since that time, most Alurians still choose to think that he is watching and protecting them, and perhaps even waiting for another person to gift his light to, which would mark the beginning of another era of rapid growth and advancement.
