Sanavran Santiana by Lanovran

Sanavran Santiana

Sanavran Santiana

Lanovran

Inspired by the talents of the sea shanty group, The Longest Johns, my friend Megan translated the lyrics from an old shanty called "Santiana" into a fictional language called Sanavran, which she invented many years ago. This language is used for the Elvan speech and magical incantations found throughout the fantasy audio drama, "The Call of the Flame." Well, inspiration begets inspiration, it would seem, and her translation of this sea shanty got me back in front of my microphone for the first time in a long time to record some music!

This arrangement of "Santiana" features my Rav Vast handpan, ebonite Irish flute made by Geoffrey Ellis, a wooden cajon made for me as a gift by my best friend, and vocals.

The lyrics follow below:

"Sana ishoselu avedirashi
berane, Santiana
tekosa githim, natetesa meluvan
Navaa berosana duv nav-o

Levrashendar yalavran ilim
berane, Santiana
