Buck Songweaver is the lead singer for the acapella rock group Van Canter, one of the more well known metal groups with a rather wide range of styles.

One concert in Ponyville, BonBon and other friends talked Lyra Heartstrings into going to the Van Canter concert because they managed to score seats in the first five rows. She loved the concert and especially the unicorn stallion fronting the band had her quite enamored both with his look and antics. What she didn't notice was she had caught his eye as well and during their performance/cover of "Shut Up And Dance" he surprised her by pulling her up on stage to dance with him. After the concert as well she got to go backstage with the band as well and that began a rather lovely relationship between the two.
