A drawing of MikaKeleDraws 's lovely naga character Vera wearing a ragged blue T-shirt. The stylized HISS on the front doesn't mean anything specific; I just thought it looked nice. The line down the middle of her face is supposed to be a stray strand of hair, but it didn't quite come out right. Neither did her hands, but nobody really knows how to do those.
Drawn with an HB #2 pencil, three pencil crayons, a fine tipped pen, and a Bic permanent marker. I should get some Coptic markers or something and experiment with those.
This is the first drawing in my entire life that I had fun doing. The public education system and one especially bad eighth grade art teacher were my first real exposure to art. Attaching a marking sheet to something and telling kids they're doing it wrong is a great way to get them to hate it, and it worked wonders on me. I've gone my entire adolescent and adult life thinking I couldn't draw and that I hated to draw.
Only in the last few years, after drinking in art and the general internet culture surrounding it for huge spans of time, did I decide to try it myself. Turns out the creative process is actually fun, despite what the schools want you to think.
Maybe I'll write a blog/journal/whatever entry about the process of drawing this. I really want to do more, even if I'll never be more than a hobbyist.
