The Cat Waltz by Kodalynx

The Cat Waltz

Kodalynx

As mentioned in other pieces, in Koda's world, the domestic cats are the civilized city-dwellers, his sort, the larger lynxes, are seen much in the manner of Vikings. They're the wild cousins.

Koda has impeccable manners when he has to visit any of the courts or rulers, much to the chagrin of the foppish cats who expect him to be a crude barbarian!

Kendra, his good friend, is a sharp-minded Abyssinian linguist, librarian and researcher who often accompanies him to explore ruins, and whom he turns to for help in translating ancient engravings and curses rather than rushing blindly into dangerous things. She can't stand the petty games and gossip of the court and he, as an outsider, has nothing to do with them.

While he takes the utmost caution to preserve her reputation in a society full of easy scandals, it seems as if at some banquet or formal event, he's asked her to dance! There'd likely be a row of the courtly fops and petty lords off to one side with their mouths hanging open, but neither of them seem to care about their opinions, here.

Just as Koda has encouraged Kendra to explore her more wild roots, he's willing to step into her world, and show a beautiful, intelligent lady he's fond of a pleasant time by leading in an elegant waltz.

Lovely artwork by  brindle

She really brought Kendra to life here. She looks both mildly surprised and pleased, and Koda's showing his more romantic, gentlemanly side. Beautiful work.
