First, there was a really weird pigeon-based visual novel and its absolutely epic Let's Play thread, which prompted me to buy the full version.
Then there were many Let's Play-esque Livestream sessions I started to host.
Then everything sort of got out of control. Someone mentioning that he expected the scene with (the almost-always-crossdressing) Ryouta standing outside a hospital to be foreshadowing a sex change (rather than what it actually foreshadowed,) I adopted it as head-canon and blurted out "I WILL ACCEPT YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE AND FOR AS LONG AS I HAVE YOU COOLENE ;_;", and then DF drew it.
Looking between a non-anthropomorphic pigeon in a maid outfit and the teary-eyed Teo holding him/her, you may be wondering whether this is meant to be ridiculous, absurd, and silly, or serious, heartfelt, and emotional. Much like with Hatoful itself, I believe the answer to that is "Yes."
It's perhaps a bit narcissistic of me to fave this, but I haven't uploaded it here myself yet, so consider this an advance Collection. :P
{spoilers}A-and they kind of ended up together in the end... r-right?{/spoilers}

That game is incredible. I ended up marking Legumentines on my calendar so I'd remember to draw a gift for everybirdie.
I watched my sister stream a couple of times. For our first run we went to the trouble of finding a Kanji-punny name for the protagonist written with 'bird' and 'love', but for the second game we just named her Mizumiko Elkpaste. And that's my Hatoful Boyfriend story.
I'm part of a team that did a group voice-acted LP of the whole thing (I was cast as Sakuya, Nageki, Miru & Kaku, and Ryuuji.) We laughed, we cried--no, literally, I was Nageki so I had to do his speech during the lighthouse scene at the climax of chapter four, I got through it in one piece but barely and you can seriously hear me choking up on the video.
Moa actually already had a CafePress store; the Zazzle one is a new addition to it. Those buttons will look awesome pinned to my St. PigeoNation's tote, which is (really, I am being totally serious here, ask anyone who's hung out with me, this is totally true) my default purse-like thing-I-carry-around-with-all-my-stuff-in-it at cons.
