Ah, okay. I've thought about using markers, but I'm not sure where to start as a beginner. Any recommendations?

Hmm.. ProMarkers are a great starting point. They're about €2.99 a marker so build up your collection slowly! Then, experiment! Have fun with them! Try different papers, different blending methods, find something that works for you! I'd recommend looking at Copic Ciaos too, they have a nice brush tip which gives a lovely effect.
