Not quite. But he's a fat guy. Turning into a skinny frog who easily fits in a coach seat, with no shoes or belt to remove and no pants to pat down at security, was well worth the price, he figures.
My mistake. I meant to say that the baggage fee was less than the monsterization fee, i.e. he spent more doing it this way. But he did have the conveniences of a roomier seat, less hassles in security, and thinking he "put one over" on the airline must be worth the price to him.
