Kiha's Dinobugfish Adventures: Lydia

Kiha

Some might consider her unremarkable compared to the others, but Lydia is by far my favorite, I think. Yet another Longicaudatus, she's about 2-1/4 long; only very slightly shorter than Aela, though still only the second-smallest Triop in the tank.

She's a total sweetheart. Kind of a pushover, so making sure she gets her pellets can sometimes be difficult if Aela's taken to picking on her that day (and, unfortunately, Lydia does get picked on quite a lot), but she really loves digging. If there's sand somewhere, she'll dig it up. Since I've changed out the sand in the tank and rearranged everything, she's pretty much done nothing but completely terraform the bottom of the tank. Hell, tonight she found a tiny tunnel near the bottom of one of the coral structures that I'd totally forgotten about and buried, and spent most of the night clearing it out and making a little hidey-hole for herself-- which is when I snapped this pic.

... And then Aela swam by and completely buried Lydia's head under sand and went on, like the little asshole she it. :T Had to go in with the dropper full of water to gently wash away the sand and help clear out the opening of the tunnel so she could get out. Lydia wasn't very happy with Aela, but she's definitely proud of her tunnel and keeps playing around in it now. It's her seekrit caev!
