The classic elements (in this case, earth, fire, wind, and water) are central to many religions of Ghesera. Four powerful gods control one of the four elements, and are collectively known as the Elemental Gods. Early on in the first era, they each took the form of an animal.

Lakestrider, the water goddess, took the form of a bear. She is a protector of the water people, who can shift between a human and a bear form. In rituals, she is associated with passage to and from the spirit realm. In daily prayer, she is associated with overcoming obstacles and finding new paths. While present in many cultures, different people have different interpretations of her.
