Caravansary Playa Banners by Keovi

Caravansary Playa Banners

Keovi

Alas! I did not get a photo of all the various scarves, banners, and bandanas that I printed as playa gifts/camp decor, but my friend and campmate   reveille used his awesome photography skills to capture one of the banners strung up on our shade structure. Just imagine this design on a myriad of different colors, in either gold or white ink!

The design incorporates a lot of Burning Man iconography (crescent shape of the city, man motif, placed at the approximate temple location in relation to the city, and the man motif repeated in the lines of action from the caracal's ears down to the smoke swirls). The crossed circle is my own bit of iconography, representing the relationship between the physical and metaphysical perceptions of existence. I chose a caracal because it is an independent, desert creature, and the animal I have used as the most deeply personal representation. Kinda helps that "caracal" kinda sounds like this year's theme, "Caravansary".

At any rate, this was a personal project I thoroughly enjoyed working on, from concept, to Illustrator-ing, to printing. Gifting and surprising friends and strangers alike with these was such a fulfilling thrill <3

I shall definitely create more printing projects like this in the future, hand-pulled prints are just too much fun to resist.

Credit for photography goes to the uber-talented   reveille!
