Halloween drawing.

Don't worry he's fine :3

First time painting like this, too. I'd love any tips if anyone can give them! Currently I feel like I need to contrast more, the darks aren't really "darks" in my eyes. If anyone has any books, videos, etc I could watch to help, please post them in the comments!

    dopestuff. :>

Do you start with a dark canvas/background? starting with a dark canvas usually helps me because it helps my eyes adjust to the darker colors. I start with a semi dark color add shadows, highlights then background lighting probably a better way but that's my process. tbh i'm really no help

      Thanks!

Yeah, I did. I think I was having issue really understanding how the spotlight hit the fabric and fur, really. I should also have expanded my color palette a bit, especially with the hoodie.

It looks really good to me!! I love how you used the shading! I use the smudge tool to make it more realistic on the fur and hair (it often comes out too big) and then I take a new layer and fill it with black and make it slightly less dark by lowering the opacity to 50 or less then take the eraser and erase where I want it to show light, I’ll post a tutorial for you if you’d like privately through sta.sh on da! But to me this looks like your on a professional level of painting digital!

Thank you for the comment! It's been a while since I looked on here, so I didn't see this. I took a small break from art due to personal things, and I'm only recently getting back into the swing of things. I'd love to see that tutorial, too, if you still have it.
