Gijinka-Shadow with a Chaos Emerald.

Practicing more on backgrounds and glows with this digital piece. (I love drawing gijinka-Shadow, but I hate that it's all black............................. lol)

Shadow the Hedgehog belongs to Sega, this human-form design is my own.

Thanks!! It really turned out well...I used the "strong" and "soft" spray can brushes, with the blur tool on it! :)

It looks really good! If it helps I always work with a dark grey rather than black. and that emerald is lovely, I must try that effect. :3

Thanks so much! hugs I feel like I should do a pic of all seven Chaos Emeralds, this one really looks good! :)

Yeah...I used to try and do it with the greys and blacks, but it's bad for my eyes! lol

Now for blacks...I do it in a random bright color (so I can erase and fix things with the lines). Then I use the paint bucket to change that color to a dark grey, so I can put the shading in with black and lighting with lighter greys. :)

Do you have a tablet? I know a couple of tricks that can make stuff easier that you might find helpful.

Yeah, I have a Wacom Bamboo and I'm using Manga Studio 5. :)

Try using the selection tools to define an area you want to work on, you can be a lot looser with your brush strokes without worrying about making a massive mess. Also try experimenting with opacity of the brushes, you can build up nice soft effects that way.

I can't figure out how to use the selection tool properly... laugh

Ah, but thank you so much! I am so awful at these things...I could probably learn it if someone physically showed me how to use it. I always did better in classroom settings, rather than study alone classes. :)

Ooh I wish I could, I use Krita you see so I don't know how it could work in your programme. Perhaps there is someone else with the know how who could give you a little tour of the tools? XD

I've tried once, but it would select more than I wanted. So I may not be using it properly. I kinda wish things still came with instruction manuals these days! They're not made for old timers like me! laughs

I use 'bezier curve selection tool' mainly. You click a point you want the selection to start at then keep tapping away wherever you want it to go until you reach the start point again. You might have that in your programme too.

I'll have to see. I know Rena (Renamon_Paws here and FA) uses MS5 and I watched one of his tutorials. So I've seen it used...just trying to emulate it is the tough part. :)

If I can ever master that...I'll probably be able to use MS5's screentones perfectly! ;)
