I worried about my flowers in this planter--we'd had a week of 60-70F temperatures when I planted these a month ago...........so, I assumed we were past our freezing temperatures.
Then we got snow and below 30F. I thought for sure nothing was going to come up.
So, lately we've been soggy and full of rainy days all over, I wondered if maybe we were going to drown anything that might even be trying to come up, if the cold didn't kill them. But Monday I saw one tiny sprout in the container--however, I wondered if it were actually some of the flower seeds I planted or something like a stray weed-seed that might've drifted into the container during the super-windy days we also had lately.
However, today I look in and I've found a good handful of sprouts coming up through the thing--so I think they may really be the flower seeds I planted! I did one of those "mixed garden" seed packets this year, it's got stuff like zinnias and the like. So, really, it's going to be a lottery of what I actually get that comes up--a real surprise. But they should all be pastels around the pink-to-purple range.
I circled the sprouts, so you can see where they are. It's a fairly good-sized planter, too.
