As anybody who's ever had a digital pet of any kind knows--unless you turn off the sound--the thing will beep at you when it needs your attention. For various reasons. Most make sense, but when it should really be crying for help--apparently the Tamagotchi is silent. :/
It calls for food. (Feed rice)
It calls for being sad. (Feed cherries)
It calls because it wants to play--and is happy, but still wants to play. (Play mini-game)
IT IS TOTALLY SILENT WHEN IT'S BEING CHASED BY GHOSTS.
SERIOUSLY?!? headdesk
I went to go to the bathroom--and this is after the Tama's been active for about 4 hours and basically barely wanted anything--and I come back and it's being chased by ghosts. Did it make any sounds? No, no it did not.
I would be screaming for help. XD
Tamagotchi and Pac-Man belong to Bandai/Namco. Silly "My Tamagotchi Life" comic is mine.

This one, I don’t feel it’s as needy as old Tama are......except that Ghost thing. Those are so random, you can’t prepare at all......I went to brush my hair and was gone for 20 seconds and came back to Ghosts chasing my Tama—we BOTH just woke up a few minutes ago. @_@
But after feeding, it’s pretty okay for 4 hours or so (which kinda suits my own food/break schedule at work) and is rather quiet. Unlike my Digimon, which need to be fed like every 40-50 minutes. XD Sound on/off kinda helps! XD
