Here's a collage of photos from the program last night at the Library. They're all female, two are African Straw-Colored Fruit Bats and one is an Egyptian Fruit Bat. I can't remember the Africans' names, but they're from African mythology, but the Egyptian Fruit Bat's name is "Nefertiti". :)
Photos by me and my silly iPhone!
Yep! I got to hold one, too! :D
Their fur, like the skunk and possum, felt "rough" in comparison to a pet's (or the sugar gliders--which are pets nowadays), because you can tell they're meant to be "waterproof". That fur felt very solid, as opposed to silky-soft. Once they took the cover off the bat cage--they were crawling all over the top of the cage (upsidedown, of course! XD), they seemed to be very excited about all the people! I think they were very friendly. It's so weird to see them use the "hand" parts of the wings, even when you know they can--they really do use them like "hands"! :D
