One of the last group of characters I've yet to upload at Toyhou.se, but I have the icons done.
This is from a pretty old story series of mine, late 1990's....when "Power Rangers" introduced the west to the [super] sentai genre. The difference between "sentai" and "super sentai" is...........Rangers without robots and Rangers with robots, the robots made it "super". My first five chapters of the story were encompassed with the title of "Shin Unmei Sentai Juuranger"--typical five-character team with furry characters (no robots). At the end of chapter five, and the death of his beloved Hikari/Kurayami--the enemy, a sorceror named Stephan Blackheart (Gyphon) turned against his dark master and joined the few remaining Juuranger. Those were Kenji Yamamoto (red Dragon) and Kyrin Windstar (Unicorn). The latter five chapters became "Shin Unmei Densetsu Juuranger"--and Stephan became the newest Ranger of the team, which was now a team of only 3.

I can’t seem to get the same tawny color I had with markers for Stephan, but this shade looks more lion-like (appropriate for a Gryphon). It was funny when I was showing a friend the linearts, she asked if I didn’t already draw Soren—but I suppose Soren and Stephan have similar hairstyles! XD
It was easier with Kenji and Kyrin to get a color-appropriate background for their Ranger colors, though maybe Kenji’s is too much red! XD You can’t see it well, but Stephan’s background is white with black bubbles, he’s the White Ranger. chuckle
