This is why I don't...............

.........................do my linework digitally. I just can't. LOOK AT HOW AWFUL THOSE LINES ARE. cries sadly

I also suck at doing whole bodies as well, I can pretty much only do stuff like this. Maybe 'Ponies......if the lines were kinds sketchy.

See, this is why I import my hand-drawn linework and just color it digitally.

I don't even know why I did this yesterday.............I guess just coloring 4 pieces got me bored of simply coloring. XD

    them feels of lines XD also one other thing i cant get right when drawing is hands :P when i draw hands they end up looking like sharp pencils or tree stumps on their arms xD

      My arthritis just doesn't work with digital stuff..............I correct a lot of my wobbly-ness on paper by doing thick linework. But I can't make the same kinds of corrections digitally. XD

    Looks nice

    I understand the feeling of wondering about doing something for no reason in particular.

      I just didn't want to close out of the program, but I felt I was done just coloring from my backlog of things. So I just doodled. :D

    I can feel your pain with the lines.

      People kept telling me "the more you do it, the better they'll get"..............I still try (and don't post that stuff) for the past 4 years and those lines just aren't getting better! XD

        Trust me, it takes a long time to perfect a style, let alone lines. Just keep going!

          It's so hard, because I love my traditional lines........and they're unique. Digital just doesn't feel the same......

          Thanks so much for your kind words! :)

            I can understand that, and there might be a way to color on your lines with messing with them in the digital sense.

            You are welcome!

    I'm guessing you are using a mouse to draw lines? If you're using a tablet then it's not picking up pressure sensitivity properly and that means somethings probably also wrong with stability.

    • Link

      Oh no...............it's a tablet. And it's probably my arthritis. My hands are not very steady................I've learned to correct for that in my traditional work by doing the double-inking thing I do--but I can't apply this the same way to digital stuff. A tablet just doesn't work the same way with my poor old hands. chuckle

      • Link

        So tablets have a thing called a stabilizer that can help control this for people with less steady hands. Also, your lines, if your tablet is set up properly, should taper at each end with the pressure being let up. Yours are not doing that. o3o'

          I've tweaked some of that.........but to be honest--with no instructions coming with electronics any more and no physical person to help me with that--it's honestly easier just not to bother. Watching YouTube videos (as everyone suggests) does not help me, because you can't ask questions if your device or program differs from what they're showing. I learn more in a classroom setting than by verbal description.

          I think drawing and not seeing what's beneath my hand is difficult for me, as well. It's easier for me to do my art as long as I can touch it. :)

          As long as I can color my lineart. I'm good. :D

            That's why 3 has to have a screen in tablet xD Someday maybe we can visit you and help you set it up

            • Link

              Yeah, I have a Wacom Bamboo.......with an Intuos in the wings, should the Bamboo break. (Got it on a fabulous sale 2 years ago, for only $60 at Best Buy!) But I've used the Bamboo for over four years now.......so my Intuos can remain in storage probably until I buy a new computer! XD

    The funny thing is, I'm the opposite. Because of the Undo button, I can do much better lines on the iPad! I always mess up my traditional lines ^-^;

    The coloring looks great though!

    • Link

      It's probably difficult for me to not look at what I'm drawing..............looking at the screen. So that's why traditional lines work better for me. :)

      Thanks so much! :D

        Yeah, that makes total sense. One of the reasons it took me so long to get used to digital art was because of that. For the longest time I did all my sketches on paper because sketching on the computer was so hard. But the iPad made sketching so much easier and I prefer sketching on there than traditionally!

          That helps a lot! :D

    I think it's a brave try. I hate doing linework digitally too.... >_<;;

      Thanks! :)

      I really can't do more than headshots. It's like I have a mental freeze up when I try to do bodies.......!
