classic MLP: Firefly by keirajo

classic MLP: Firefly

keirajo

I, then, tried to do the original generation Pegasai......................Firefly is the only one that turned out good, so...........I'm going to have to try again later with Medley. Probably when I get around to the Earth 'Ponies of that generation. I'm really going to have to go looking hard for some of those designs.........the kids storybook I have does not have any of the Earth 'Ponies in it. I own Blossom (my sister's) and Applejack (mine)...............but I don't have Cotton Candy and Bowtie. Although I can reference Bowtie from the original packaging on the first t.v. special's VHS version. XD I think Cotton Candy was just pink with a mark of simple bubbles though...................if my memory hasn't gone completely down the drain.............!

So, here we go, the original 'Pony that is the basis for the modern cartoon's Rainbow Dash. :)

Firefly belongs to MLP/Hasbro. :)

Among your MLP fanart, I think you make them look cuter, and even BETTER, than the franchise's original art-style!

      Awwwwwwwwww....thanks so much! :D

I have a style that's somewhere between what's modern and the original look. I like doing chibi 'Ponies a lot more often, too. :)

In the new "My Little Pony: The Movie", based on Friendship is Magic (and utilizing the exact title of the 1986 movie for reasons that are beyond me), you can see a pink pegasus with blue hair in the trailers. Even though it looks like little else than a background character, I so hope that's Firefly! The show has also mentioned a "General Firefly" who was founder of the Wonderbolts.

I don't know if you've ever read the IDW comics..........but in one of the very first issues, they inserted in the background of a large panel scene both Firefly and Medley. :)

The comic book people have done a lot of inserting of the classic characters in the backgrounds (there's a story about Celestia that shows Moondancer and Glory and a few other older unicorns)--so maybe the new movie is doing something like what IDW has been doing for a few years now? :)

I've only read the 2014 Annual of the comics, just for curiosity, because it's about the Power Ponies. I was indifferent to the comics, but then, just before they came out, one of the writers said something to the effect of "this book is not just for kids" and then Queen Chrysalis killed a kitten in front of the Cutie Mark Crusaders. I assumed "not just for kids" meant "lots of misplaced and unnecessary child-unfriendly pandering to un-nice bronies and their warped notions that the show is, in fact, for adults only" and looked away.

IDW handles all of their licensed properties really well. The only series I know that is "warped" is the recent G.I. Joe vs. Transformers (couple years ago now!) series they did--it was meant to be rather drug-trippy. XD

But when it comes to their ongoing series, IDW does amazing work with them all. I wish they'd do an artbook just focusing on the artist who does the MLP painted covers (I think it's Sara Richardson), because those covers are always gorgeous.

I want to get the graphic novel that collects one mini-series I read......about Sombra and how he became who he was. It was a very bittersweet love story. Out of all the stories they've done, I like that one the best. It was called "Shadows", I believe.
